Busy Weekend for Randolph County Sports

Coastal Plain League

The Asheboro Copperheads played a doubleheader Friday night against the Thomasville Hi-Toms. The Copperheads split with the Hi-Toms, winning 8-0 in the first game & losing 3-0 in the second. That loss, in the second game,
snapped the Copperheads 6-game winning streak. On Saturday night, they faced the Lexington Blowfish. Unfortunately, their luck didn't change, losing a tough one 3-2.

Most of the Copperheads will enjoy a few days off, due to the All-Star break. The All-Star game is being played in Lexington Monday evening. A few players won't getting as much time off, including Kyle Hamner of West Florida, Ryan Mincher of University of Pennsylvania, Skyler Geissinger of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Will Albertson of Catawba College and Micah Wells of UNC Charlotte. Congratulations to them for their hard play, so far, this season.

The Copperheads will resume play on Tuesday against the Hi-Toms at home, before traveling the next 2 nights.

Carolina-Virginia League

The Deep River Muddogs just couldn't get the offense going, losing to Fuquay-Varina 10-0 on Saturday night at Craven Stadium. Good news for the Muddogs; They had four players that played in the All-Star game Sunday evening: Alec Allred, McKinley Stanberry, Foley George & Josh Black. We want to congratulate those players for receiving that honor. The Muddogs will be on the road Tuesday night against the Carolina Pirates.

American Legion

Randolph County Post 45 traveled to Rowan County for the next round of the Area III playoffs. Unfortunately, Post 45 lost a tough one 8-6. They will play at home Monday night at 7:05 p.m., with the following game being played Tuesday night at Rowan County in this best of 5 series.

Eastern Randolph Post 81 keeps rolling right along and have gotten hot at the right time. Post 81 beat High Point Sunday 6-1 at High Point. Post 81 plays at home Monday night, before traveling back to High Point on Tuesday. This is also a best of five series.
